A "La Perriére"

La Perriére is a Maison de Mâitre built well over 100 years ago. Together with the nearby converted wine chais, they offer superb Gite accommodation for up to 11 and 6 people  respectively.  Both properties are set within their own 3 hectare grounds which, in turn are situated within 40 hectares of working farmland, itself bordered by other farms and  vineyards. Thus, you are assured of complete privacy and silence whilst at the same time being within easy driving distance of the major attractions of  the Loire Valley, the Atlantic coast at La Rochelle and attractions such as Futuroscope, near Poitiers (see ‘Attractions and Things To Do’ for detailed information on the region).

“La Perriére” is situated in the small hamlet of Cléré sur Layon, a typical agricultural and viticultural commune in the region known as the Coteaux du Layon. (see ‘The Wine of Anjou’ for further information on the Layon and the other appellations).

One of a cluster of small villages where the main activity is still very much viticulture and both arable and livestock farming , Cleré has just a small bar and shop but the neighbouring village of Nueil sur Layon is well equipped with a supermarket, two bars, a restaurant, bakery, pharmacy, three doctors, including one that specializes in alternative medicine, and a dentist.  The town of Vihiers is 10 minutes away and Doué-la-Fontaine is 20 minutes.  Both have large hypermarkets with most of the facilities you are likely to need.
